<p><strong>Due to a 100% chance of heavy rain forecast for tomorrow, the Sandy Hook event has been cancelled.</p>
<p>Instead, Senator McCain <a href="http://www.politickernj.com/matt-friedman/19482/mccain-jersey-city-tomorrow">will be</a> at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City.  </strong></p>
<p>The event begins with a press conference at 11:00 a.m., followed by a tour of an exhibit with former Governor Tom Kean, Sr. </p>
<p>Today&#8217;s fundraiser was a major success: There was a large turnout and Senator McCain was on his game in his speech.</p>
<p><em><strong>Outside of hitting his usual talking points, Senator McCain said he was committed to campaigning hard and WINNING New Jersey.</strong></em></p>
<p>I am fully confident that Senator McCain is exactly the kind of presidential candidate that will appeal to the independents and Reagan Democrats in New Jersey and will be a great boost at the top of the ticket for Republicans across the state.</p>

You are not a Republican Murray, <a href="http://www.redjersey.net/2008/05/07/murray-sabrin-left-the-republican-party-for-the-2nd-time-in-2005/" target="_blank">you left the party twice</a>, only to come back to fuel your own ego.  Your press release was absurd and insulting today.   First off, let me start by stating you are not the likely Republican nominee for U.S. Senate.  You never have and never will be.    The fact that you even think that might be the case makes me think you should go get your head checked, because something is obviously not right upstairs.</p>
<p>You put out a press release today stating NJ GOP to McCain&#8230;.hey Murray you and your slate of candidates are not the NJ GOP. The real NJ GOP would not support the foreign policy that you and the Democrats support.  Lets look further down your joke release today:</p>

<p>Wow, Murray I guess we can actually see who you support.  Do you sport an Obama bumper sticker on your car?  Murray it is not up to a fringe candidate like you to try and give a strategy to the Republican Presidential nominee, who actually won a primary, when I doubt you will even garnish 10% of the vote on June 3rd.</p>
<p>Finally &#8220;Maverick Murray&#8221;, on June 4th when you are reviewing your last place election results and decide to leave the Republican Party for a third time do us a favor and don&#8217;t come back.</p>

<p>Amid yet another one of its high profile public officials in Mayor David Delle Donna going down on political corruption charges and with most likely more to come as he starts to squeal on everybody around him that brought him down in the first place, the politics of Guttenberg really haven&#8217;t changed very much if at all over the past few decades. It has always been a breeding ground for corruption.</p>
<p>The insignificant 0.2 square mile town which has a population of about 10,700 and was formerly a part of North Bergen where the town currently sends its high school students and shares a zip code with its other big neighbor, West New York, was founded in 1859. It only has one elementary school and for some bizare reason, an elected school board to oversee the running of this <strong>one</strong> school. Why a town with <strong>ONE</strong> school needs a school board is totally beyond me.</p>
<p>Guttenberg also shares its Municipal Utilities Authority with North Bergen and shares the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Department with the surrounding towns of the region.  <a href="http://www.dinosforum.com/2008/05/solution-to-guttenbergs-problems-cease.html">Continue reading</a></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Dr. Murray Sabrin, self proclaimed champion of the Constitution, and former Libertarian turned Republican for the purposes of this US Senate race, issued an interesting press release the other day entitled <a href="http://www.murraysabrin.com/PressReleases.aspx?ID=50">Sabrin Celebrates May 5 not Cinco de Mayo.</a></p>
<p>While this is one of the issues I tend to agree with Dr. Sabrin on, one thing struck me as kind of odd.</p>
<p>Point 3 of the &#8220;The Sabrin Solution 5-Point Immigration Reform&#8221; reads: </p>
<p>3. End birth-rite citizenship</p>
<p>I thought this was interesting considering Dr. Sabrin&#8217;s constitutional position on seemingly every issue imaginable.</p>
<p>Last time I checked, the first line of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution reads:</p>
<p>&#8220;All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.&#8221;</p>
<p>So Dr. Sabrin, do you NOT believe in the Constitution, or are you suggesting we amend the Constitution to revoke birth-rite citizenship?</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Three New Jersey Republicans are celebrating tax freedom day today.</strong> Tax Freedom Day is the day citizens earn enough money to pay their combined federal, state and local tax obligations for the year.</p>
<p>US Senate Candidate <a href="http://www.zimmerforsenate.com/">Dick Zimmer</a> put out a statement in response to New Jersey becoming the second-to-last state to reach Tax Freedom Day.</p>
<p>“Today is the first time this year New Jersey residents will finally be putting money in their own pockets rather than the federal, state or local government’s,” said Zimmer. “It is disgraceful that New Jersey families can no longer afford to live here because government taxes and spends too much at every level.” </p>
<p>Zimmer pointed out that according to the nonpartisan Tax Foundation, the average American works 113 days to pay federal, state and local government. New Jersey residents work 127 days; only Connecticut residents work longer to pay for their taxes. </p>
<p><strong>“I promise that when I’m elected to the U.S. Senate, I will fight for less government spending, lower taxes and an end to pork-barrel politics. The taxpayers of New Jersey deserve a strong advocate to stop out-of-control spending and I will be that advocate,”</strong> concluded Zimmer. </p>

<p><strong>Democrat State Senator Bob Smith is <a href="http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/05/state_senator_pushes_water_tax.html">renewing</a> efforts to win public approval of a ballot question that would constitutionally dedicate a new water tax to raise about $150 million annually for open space purchases.</strong> Smith&#8217;s plan would impose a new water consumption fee of 40 cents per 1,000 gallons of water delivered per household, along with new permitting fees for water purveyors.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t think it was possible, but leave it up to a Trenton Democrat to actually come up with a plan to tax water. What&#8217;s next, Trenton Democrats taxing the ground we walk on?! (I was originally going to say air we breathe, but Assemblyman Webber already made that joke)</p>
<p>Republicans are all over this one.</p>
<p>Senate Minority Leader <a href="http://www.tomkean.com/">Tom Kean Jr.</a> said, <strong>&#8220;When will the Democrats understand that with soaring gas, food and fuel bills, people throughout this state are hurting, and assaulting them with higher taxes will not help.&#8221;</strong> </p>

<p>Now just holding public hearings means very little, the Turnpike Authority could sit there all day listening to negative remarks about a decision to hike tolls and still decide it&#8217;s in the &#8220;best interest&#8221; of the people. So if the Turnpike Authority decides to increase toll rates, the only man that can stop it is Governor Corzine, the same Governor who first proposed the idea of Asset Monetization/toll hikes to help pay down the state&#8217;s debt and fund infrastructure improvements.</p>
<p>Transportation Commissioner/Corzine lackey Kris Kolluri has said a 45% toll increase is needed to repair toll roads and bridges on them. Currents plans calls for widening the Turnpike from Exits 6 to 8A and the Parkway from Exits 30 to 80. Toll road bridges also need billions in repairs. </p>
