Corzine Approval Ratings Slipping, Residents heavily opposed to Asset Monetization and a Gas Tax

    By Eric Sedler | December 11, 2007

According to a new Quinnipiac University Poll, Governor Jon Corzine’s approval ratings are slipping and voters are havily opposed to Asset Monetization and a Gas Tax.
Governor Corzine’s approval ratings are 46% to 43% with 11% undecided. The State Legislature’s approval ratings are in the toilet with 28% Approving and 53% disapproving. 44% of New Jersey Voters feel that Jon Corzine deserves to be re-elected while 43% do not with 13% undecided. However, against an unnamed Republican candidate Corzine has 41% compared to 31% for the Republican Candidate. That being said, 16% said it depends on the candidate and 12% said they are undecided.

29% of voters are in favor of selling or leasing the Turnpike and the Parkway as a way to reduce New Jersey’s debt. 59% are opposed while 12% are undecided. 24% of voters are in favor of an increased gasoline tax to help finance road improvements and mass transportation while 74% are opposed to it with only 2% undecided. If forced to choose between a toll increase or a gas tax hike 70% of New Jersey voters said a toll increase while 18% said a gas tax hike and 12% were undecided.

On our US Senate Front, approval ratings for both Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez generally stayed the same that they usually are. 42% of voters approve of Frank Lautenberg’s job handling while 33% disapprove and 25% are undecided. 34% of voters approve of Robert Menendez’s job handling while 34% disapprove and 32% are undecided. (Which is wierd, since both Lautenberg and Menendez vote the same on almost every issue)

Something Positive to Note: Governor Corzine’s approval ratings are the lowest they’ve been since April 2006 when he had 35% approval rating.
New Jersey residents are finally waking up!
